Social network Facebook has re-organised its engineering teams to make it more mobile friendly to target the mobile users.
Facebook director of product management Peter Deng said that the company has re-organized to build faster on mobile.
"In the past six months we transplanted mobile engineers to the other teams," Deng said.
"Slowly, over time we are making everyone a mobile engineer."
Facebook believes that social network users are shifting from desktop computers or laptops to smartphones and tablet computers, where the company is not faring well in monetising ads.
Facebook product manager Mick Johnson told AFP that about 7,000 different models of mobile devices are used daily to connect with Facebook and the challenge is to tailor experiences for each gadget.
According to Facebook, a focus on HTML 5 technology to link throughout the spectrum of smartphones using mobile Web browsers resulted in lackluster results.
"The performance wasn’t what our users expected and we weren’t happy with it either," Johnson said.
The smartphone market is dominated by Android and Apple devices.
Facebook has begun Android and iOS training sessions which are anticipated to have 200 to 300 engineers trained by the end of 2012.
In August 2012, Facebook had released the new version 5.0 of its applications for Apple’s iPhone and iPad which will allow faster access for users who access the service through mobile devices.
