The card payment firm launches new mobile app with The Cloud.
Mastercard has penned a deal with British Wi-Fi provider The Cloud to provide free Wi-Fi to travelers in thousands of public places around the UK.
The card payment firm, which this week introduced a biometric bank card, launched a new mobile which will connect it customers to The Cloud’s 22,000 free hotspots around the country.
To access the free app, users register through MasterCard’s Priceless Cities website in their home country and then download the app from Google Play or Apple’s App Store.
The Wi-Fi app also includes deals and promotion based on a user’s location alongside a GPS locator to help users find the nearest hotspots.
"The app The Cloud has developed allows our cardholders not only to benefit from free Wi-Fi when they travel to London, but also access a wide range of offers and experiences available on the Priceless London program," said MasterCard’s digital marketing programme manager Charles Clement-Cottuz.
"This service is very much appreciated by our cardholders as it allows them to use all their mobile based essential services such as maps, reviews and social networks at no cost as well as giving them access to experiences that can make their trip truly Priceless."
Roger Matthews, commercial director at The Cloud, added: "By incorporating Wi-Fi in to Priceless Cities, MasterCard are expanding services offered and are providing a new valued service to cardholders, increasing their daily touch points whilst abroad. Ultimately, this further drives customer value and brand engagement."
