Capture the ‘ultimate selfie’ with 13MP front camera.
Bowing to the growing selfie trend across the globe, HTC has rolled out a new Desire EYE smartphone that comes with a 13MP high resolution front camera that can capture the ‘ultimate selfie’.
The device has a point-and-shoot action camera in addition to a social network that allows sharing photographs and videos.
The two image processors integrated in the device enable shooting video or photos from both cameras simultaneously. The processors enable splitting of the image into the photographer and the photographed.
Later, the two split parts are superimposed to generate a selfie.
Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, the smartphone features a 5.2in full HD display, HTC EYE Experience and collaborative video-editing app Zoe in addition to a high-speed 4G connectivity.
The Taiwanese firm also launched its new photography innovation called RE, a small handheld camera that enables users to naturally capture videos and photography.
Integrating a high-resolution, 16MP CMOS sensor, the handheld camera comes with a full HD (1080p) video recording, a 146 degree wide-angle lens, and slow-motion and time lapse recording feature.
The RE’s cylindrical design integrates a sensor that automatically switches on the device when it is picked up. Its RE video-editing app lets wirelessly connected smartphones and tablets to relay the footage live and replay it later.
HTC CEO Peter Chou said: "As a company we don’t stand still and our devotion to innovation has seen us take smart photography in a completely new direction for our business and our customers.
"Once people get a RE in their hands, they won’t want to put it down."
Further, the company is planning to enable RE to offer real-time video streaming to YouTube.
HTC’s Desire EYE will be rolled out across EMEA, Asia and the US and in the US later this month.
