IBM has introduced single-sign-on software to automate password management, removing the need for users to manage and recall multiple passwords.
It said Tivoli Access Manager for Enterprise Single Sign On, TAM ESSO, enables users to sign on securely to their computer network and then automatically handles subsequent authentication and access to other applications. It also allows organizations to secure remote access for their mobile workforce without installing any desktop software and modifying application servers.
The software, which is based on technology that the company got from its acquisition of Encentuate in March, includes support for authentication methods such as mobile phones and building access badges, and event reporting and auditing for governance and compliance initiatives.
Al Zollar, general manager at IBM Tivoli Software, said: Our identity and access management software integrated with security information and event management is a cornerstone of IBM’s approach to help customers achieve their company-wide security and compliance goals.
The release follows the July launch of integrated data-protection software Tivoli Storage Manager FastBack based on the technology from its April acquisition of data protection start-up FilesX.
