Leverages Joyent cloud software with Dell cloud-optimised infrastructure and services
Joyent, a provider of cloud computing offerings and technology, has introduced SmartDataCenter cloud software offering for service providers in partnership with Dell.
Dell, together with Joyent, now offers service providers, hosting companies, telcos and online-driven enterprises with a fully-integrated, turnkey offering that leverages Joyent cloud software with Dell cloud-optimised infrastructure and services.
The Dell cloud offering for Web applications is a pre-tested, pre-assembled and fully-supported hardware, software and services offering for deploying a platform as a service (PaaS) to power highly responsive Web applications.
Dell data center solutions director of marketing Andy Rhodes said they designed this turnkey offering to be easily deployed and highly efficient, enabling service providers to maximise return on investment and focus on delivering new services to customers in order to drive business growth.
Joyent said that its SmartDataCenter cloud software offering consists enablement services sold directly to service providers to allow them to compete with Amazon, Google and others that increasingly threaten their revenue streams.
Joyent’s technology consists of an integrated software stack that includes a cloud optimised operating system, application virtualisation, DTrace-based cloud analytics, data centre management and a single development platform all based on the Joyent Smart Computing suite.
Joyent founder and chief scientist Jason Hoffman said service providers want to claim share in the rapidly growing cloud marketplace and provide their customers with a offering that’s proven, efficient, and profitable.
"We’ve leveraged our experience running a successful public cloud to create a turnkey offering geared to meet the time to market needs of service providers today and the ever increasing cloud technology innovation needs of tomorrow," Hoffman said.
