Includes grid technology, virtual appliances, and drag and drop cloud management tool
Lawson Software has launched Internal Cloud Services which the company says will offer benefits of virtualisation and cloud computing to customers seeking an on-premise deployment of their Lawson offerings.
Lawson Internal Cloud Services includes Grid Technology that will help customers distribute computing tasks for selected Lawson products across a group of computers. The technology will also help improve flexibility and create the opportunity for lower-cost, high-availability infrastructure, the company claims.
According to Lawson, the new offering features cloud management tool Lawson Cloud Console and the first two in a series of virtual appliances, Smart Office and Enterprise Search. Virtual appliances come pre-assembled and are ready-to-deploy software bundles that include the database, operating system and software application.
Lawson said that the Cloud Console allows IT administrators to deploy and manage virtual appliances and provides ability to click on a virtual appliance and deploy it by dragging and dropping it to a test, development, training, or production area. It will also help the company manage customer deployments on Amazon Web Services.
Jeff Comport, senior vice president of Lawson product management, said: “With the Lawson Cloud Console, enterprise software will become liquid, fluidly moving to available machines. This approach takes virtualisation to a new level and makes it real for enterprise applications because the Virtual Appliance model gives the application the information it needs to operate in a virtualised environment – something the virtualisation vendors cannot provide.”
