Themes include Windows Theme Experience and Windows Personalisation Gallery
Microsoft Advertising has unveiled two new branding opportunities on Windows 7 operating system, which will enable global marketers to utilise the desktop or internet browsing experience with Windows Theme Experience and Windows Personalisation Gallery.
The company said that, both the theme experiences are being tested by a handful of brands as part of a pilot program. The themes allow new consumer engagement opportunities across Microsoft’s product portfolio and will allow consumers to connect with their favourite brands outside of traditional online advertising. The global advertisers already on board include Ducati, Infiniti, Porsche and Twentieth Century Fox.
According to Microsoft, the Windows Theme Experience is a combination of elements including IE 8 add-ons, Windows 7 and Windows Vista web-connected gadgets, Windows 7 backgrounds and borders, and operating system audio.
In addition, brands will be able to maximise their presence on Microsoft properties such as MSN and Windows Live, and have an inclusion in Windows Galleries, the new desktop gadgets and add-ons, the company said.
The company said that the Windows Personalisation Gallery theme offers a desktop branding experience for users throughout the operation of their Windows 7-based PC including backgrounds, slide shows, borders and application audio elements.
Darren Huston, corporate vice president at Microsoft, said: The new Windows Theme Experience and Windows Personalisation Gallery in Windows 7 allow consumers to customise their technology to reflect the things in life they are most passionate about. These are great examples of Microsoft innovation and technology coming together to enable top global brands to reach audiences in new and interesting ways.
