The new apps makes Windows 8 safer and faster compared with running Windows Defender on Windows 8, Norton claims
Norton by Symantec has released new apps to make its products including Norton 360, Norton Internet Security and Norton AntiVirus compatible with Windows 8.
The new releases are designed to enhance Windows 8 with new safety and performance improvements compared with running Windows Defender on Windows 8.
In addition, the Windows 8 apps will also help consumers manage security and scan their files stored in the cloud, on their PC or external storage devices, the company said.
The company has also released two new, touch-friendly apps, Norton Studio and Norton Satellite, for the Windows 8 environment.
Norton Studio is a companion app to Norton 360, Norton Internet Security or Norton AntiVirus that enables consumers to manage, fix, update or renew Norton protection for their devices from within the new Windows 8 user interface.
The app also displays the security status of user PCs and other devices and integrates with Windows 8 for one-click access from the new user interface desktop.
Norton Satellite, which is available in the US only, is said to allow consumers to save and share safely on Windows 8 by manually scanning their files that are likely to contain malicious threats, whether saved in the cloud, on their PC or stored on external storage devices.
It can also scan users’ Facebook feeds so they can avoid unsafe links, the company said.
