Rich media content management capability to be added to Oracle storage.
Oracle has agreed to acquire content storage management solution provider Front Porch Digital.
Front Porch Digital provides technology which helps companies manage, migrate and monetise, large-scale media assets.
It uses Big Data technologies to help organisations handle their digital media content like HD film and TV shows, real-time security monitoring feeds and medical images and records in a better way.
The products offered by Front Porch Digital include: Lynx cloud-based content management system and Samma media migration technology.
Oracle Systems executive vice president John Fowler said: "Organisations need a modern, integrated content storage management solution to manage and monetize their valuable rich media assets."
"We will continue to build on Front Porch Digital’s success and unique capabilities, which complement Oracle’s existing high performance and scalable engineered storage solutions."
Oracle also mentioned that until the acquisition is closed, Front Porch Digital will continue to operate as a separate entity.
