Allows home printing of photos from any iPhone or iPod touch to networked HP printers
Phanfare, an archival photo and video hosting company, has released a new version of Photon for the iPhone that allows home printing of photos from any iPhone or iPod touch to networked HP printers.
The company said that Photon is part of its archival photo and video hosting service aimed at amateur and professional photographers. The new version allows customers to upload photos and videos from computer, from Apple iPhoto, Google Picasa, Adobe LightRoom and Apple Aperture. Photos and videos can be shared via email, on the web, or pushed to Facebook. The company securely stores over 150 terabytes of user data and serves over 500,000 people per month.
Reportedly, HP has introduced iPhone printing via HP iPrint Photo January 2009. The new version Photon has code licensed from HP under its mobile print initiative. Phanfare previously introduced printing by mail from within Phanfare Photon in March 2009.
Andrew Erlichson, co-founder and CEO of Phanfare, said: Phanfare Photon synchronises all your photos and videos wirelessly to your iPhone where you can view them, caption them and play musical slideshows.
Enabling home printing to local HP printers complements our prints-by-mail offerings and gives our customers additional flexibility. With HP’s licensed software kit, we were able to add home printing to Phanfare Photon in less than 30 days.
Antonio Rodriguez, chief technologist for Inkjet and Web Solutions in the Imaging and Printing Group at HP, said: HP’s goal is to enable printing anywhere, anytime from any device. We are delighted to enable partners such as Phanfare to print at home to HP printers in a low-cost and easy way.
Photon is a free application available from the Apple App Store.
