New Pressy Button simplifies Android functions
A smartphone button app has hit its $200,000 Kickstarter total.
Pressy raised the required funds for the development of its Android button, which plugs into a smartphone’s headphone jack and acts as a simple shortcut to operate the user’s favourite app.
The company raised the cash in just 48 hours from more than 9,000 backers.
The button’s configuration allows a user to execute different actions following different rhythms or by pressing the button for longer, while the application programming interface (API) allows other app developers to broaden the hardware’s functionality.
The app would incorporate three preset actions, while users can also tailor the app by clicking behaviour to set up their own lists of actions.
The device, compatible with Android 2.3 and later versions, can be used to take instant photos, start voice recordings, modify phone settings, switch on the flashlight and switch on social networking – as well as many other functions.
