The new £100 device would feature Tesco’s Blinkbox.
Supermarket giant Tesco is reportedly planning to introduce its own tablet computer, in an effort to take on similar devices being offered by Apple, Samsung and Amazon.
The new £100 device may come with the retailer’s Blinkbox, which offers TV, music and film content, built in. Blinkbox is a challenger to Netflix and Lovefilm.
Reports in the Sunday Times also reveal that apps for shopping in Tesco and deploying its banking services would also be pre-installed on the device.
Also being launched to bolster its business, following an annual profits drop in April 2013, the new device is hoped to capture some of the books and DVD profits being won by Apple and Amazon.
In March 2013, the retailer launched Clubcard TV, which streams online movies and TV shows for about 16 million Clubcard customers for free.
The firm has also signed content deals with firms including Warner Brothers, Endemol and Aardman Animations.
