Messaging appliance said to cut latency in half
Integration and business process management firm Tibco has announced its first foray into the world of hardware, with a messaging appliance aimed at companies with demands for very high message throughput and minimal latency.
Launching its first appliance, the Messaging Appliance P-7500, Tibco said it has the capacity to increase messaging volumes by 10 times, reduce latency by 50% and increase the predictability of data flows and performance by 10 times. It runs Tibco’s Rendezvous messaging software.
“Even in a period of turmoil in financial markets, the one constant is a steady increase in trading volume,” said Tom Laffey, executive vice president, products and technology at the firm. “As a result, data-intensive industries—financial services, telecommunications, manufacturing, government and major online commerce companies—need lower latency and increased throughput at lower costs.”
