It is the 20th acquisition under CEO Marissa Mayer
Yahoo has completed the acquisition of e-commerce app startup Lexity, the 20th takeover under CEO Marissa Mayer’s one-year-old leadership.
Established by an ex-Yahoo employee, the four-year-old startup specialises in software applications that assist small businesses in attracting customers.
Lexity CEO Amit Kumar said the company has developed apps for tens of thousands of people across 114 countries, including its Lexity Live app, which analyses a trader’s store and offers insights about how to boost sales.
He added: "We will continue to support merchants on any ecommerce platform – BigCommerce, Magento, Shopify, you name it.
"We will also continue to support and enhance Commerce Central, our write-once, run-anywhere platform for developers."
Yahoo will continue to support the Lexity Live app, as well as its existing customers, third-party apps, and developers.
During the following months, the e-commerce website will be fully integrated with the Yahoo’s small business offering.
The latest acquisition follows that of Beijing-based social network data analysis startup, Ztelic.
Earlier this year, Yahoo had also acquired Xobni, Qwiki, PlayerScale and Tumblr.
