Yahoo snaps-up Incredible Labs to strengthen its mobile offering.
Yahoo has acquired Incredible Labs, the developer of personal-assistant app Donna, continuing its start-up acquisition spree, following the purchase of eight such firms during the earlier quarter.
Designed to assist its users in managing their daily schedules, the now defunct iPhone app can notify about approaching appointments, travel time, current location, as well connecting users to conference calls.
Incorporating similar features of Google’s Google Now service, the Donna app would allow Yahoo to work on its own equivalent of Google Now.
Incredible Labs said in a statement that Incredible Labs has entered into an agreement to be acquired by Yahoo.
"We’re looking forward to the possibilities that will come from bringing the Donna vision — letting technology take care of you — to Yahoo," the start-up added.
"Upon closing, our team will be joining Yahoo and working with some incredibly talented people, or in the case of some of us, returning to a company we know and love.
The latest acquisition comes after Yahoo roped in mobile-marketing firm Sparq, virtual gaming firm Cloud Party and Tomfoolery, a start-up established by AOL and Yahoo experts, and brings overall deals in January 2014 to four after making 28 in 2013.
