Protects against application-layer DDoS attacks
Arbor Networks, a provider of security and network management offerings, has introduced Pravail Availability Protection System (APS) appliances.
The new suite of offerings secures the Internet data centre (IDC) edge from threats and protects against application-layer distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks.
Arbor Networks said that the new Pravail APS is a purpose-built platform to identify and block application-layer DDoS attacks that threaten IDC availability.
The Pravail APS features include: purpose-built for IDC deployment scenarios; carrier-class DDoS attack identification and mitigation capabilities; focused detection and prevention of application-layer DDoS attacks; and a single, easy-to-manage platform with reporting capabilities.
In addition, the Pravail APS provides visibility into critical IP services and applications running in the IDC, such as HTTP, DNS, VoIP/SIP and SMTP traffic, said the company.
The Arbor Pravail APS also protects IDC infrastructure against numerous types of attack, including TCP State Exhaustion, HTTP/Web Attacks, DNS Floods/Authentication Attacks, TCP SYN Floods, Spoofed / Non-Spoofed Attacks, and UDP Floods.
Further, the Arbor ATLAS intelligence feed enables Pravail APS to provide protection against botnet-fueled DDoS attacks.
The new ATLAS Intelligence feed provides DDoS signatures in real time to keep the data centre edge protected against hundreds of botnet-fueled DDoS attack toolsets and their variants.
This new feed includes geo-location data and automates the identification of attacks against data centre infrastructure and services from known botnets while ensuring that updates for new threats are automatically delivered without software upgrades.
