It’s also compatible with iOS and Android.
BlackBerry has won the approval of the US government for its multi-platform security application, the Secure Work Space.
The news means the struggling manufacturer’s application can be used by government agencies and is compatible with iOS and Android operating systems.
Secure Work Space is claimed to separate user’s corporate email, calendar, contacts, tasks, memos, browsing and documents from personal apps and content on smartphone and tablet devices; a process otherwise known as containerisation.
BlackBerry Security Group senior VP Scott Totzke said the validation for Secure Work Space for iOS and Android demonstrates the multi-platform security capabilities the company delivers for customers and enterprises to deploy third-party devices.
"BlackBerry is considered the most trusted and secure mobile platform and we continue to provide customers with choice and flexibility without compromising security," Totzke added.
Secure Work Space is built on the BES10 protocols and allows administrators to configure, secure, wipe and interact within the application, while enabling users to use the device for personal purpose.
