McAfee said it had registered more sales in this quarter than in any single period
McAfee has come out strongly against Symantec denying its recent claims that many corporate customers had recently switched over from McAfee to it.
Symantec’s Chief Financial Officer James Beer had strongly hinted in an interview to Reuters that customers had switched to his company’s products, without revealing specific names.
He said Symantec was able to convert McAfee clients.
McAfee, on its part, denied the claim made by Symantec.
McAfee Senior vice president for Finance and Accounting Edward Hayden responded by saying the company had registered very strong sales in last quarter, which were in excess of $1m. He added that it had registered more sales in this quarter than in any single period, according to Reuters.
"We are not aware of any major account that we lost to Symantec during the quarter," he said
On a separate note, he also revealed that McAfee had laid off about 250 employees in December, about 3% of its workforce.
He added that, however, the company plans to add staff in priority areas by the end of the first quarter.
