To deliver security from increasing number of threats to the Android platform
The Japanese subsidiary of McAfee, McAfee Company, has revealed that NEC Corporation will offer McAfee Mobile Security pre-installed on its LifeTouch series cloud communicator beginning 26 August 2011.
The pre-installation of the mobile security suite, McAfee Mobile Security, on the NEC LifeTouch series marks the company’s first service of this type to be made available in Japan, McAfee said.
McAfee Mobile Security can back up and restore data, protect devices from viruses and other threats, locate and lock devices, wipe data, and block risky sites based on ratings.
The suite enables users to guard their devices against viruses and malware, protect their personal data through a web console, and avoid risky websites and web-based threats that target their personal and confidential information.
The LifeTouch series cloud communicator is an Android device positioned between computers and mobile phones, offering performance and mobility suited to both.
NEC Corporation expects that the deal will enable it to build its portfolio of LifeTouch products and offer enhanced security for LifeTouch series users.
Both the companies have been working together to protect LifeTouch users from high-profile vulnerabilities and the increasing number of threats to the Android platform.
McAfee notes the latest release offers security protection for all types of mobile devices, including consumer products and enterprise products, and reduces memory resource consumption without affecting performance and web-browsing speed.
The product will be available for a 30-day trial period, after which a one-year subscription can be availed.
