Faster scanning, light footprint and full compatibility with all the major anti-malware brands
Webroot, a provider of Internet security services, has introduced Prevx 3.0, which is a cloud-based anti-malware technology in US.
The new anti-malware technology is a layered anti-malware offering designed to boost PC protection by offering faster scanning, a light footprint and full compatibility with all the major anti-malware brands.
The anti-maltware technology is available in two versions: Prevx 3.0 Cloud Anti-Malware or Prevx 3.0 Cloud Security, which includes the Prevx SafeOnline browser-based security technology.
The company said that the Prevx offerings leverage the cloud-based threat database with knowledge of more than 140 million software applications and 40 million known malicious objects, supported by the automated malware research operation.
Once the threat is identified by Prevx, all users’ PCs are immediately updated to prevent an attack without having to wait for an update.
Webroot Prevx operations vice president and general manager Mel Morris said one harsh reality of the threat that cybercrime poses is that a single piece of malware that lives undetected for 5 minutes can already complete its job.
"Prevx SafeOnline offers protection on all websites and at all times by locking down the PC operating system and browser to render malware blind to the transaction so that personal details such as passwords and log-in credentials will not fall into the wrong hands even if there is a virus on your PC," Morris said.
