Incorporates Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit technology
Boston Limited has launched its latest generation Microsoft HPC Server 2008 R2-based SmartCluster M Series portable blade offerings to provide consistent low latency performance to a network.
The new storage and networking server SmartCluster is based on Supermicro Blade and provides a validated clustered hardware and software offering housed into a 14U high cabinet with wheels for ease of portability.
The new portable offering provides cluster functionality by including 160 x Intel Xeon 5600 processor cores within 20x compute nodes, 240Gb of memory, 20TB Front-end storage node, Mellanox QDR 40Gbps InfiniBand HCA, and Supermicro 36 port QDR InfiniBand in a single platform.
Boston said its SmartCluster M Series platforms have been designed and optimised for numerous research and creative applications, enabling analysts, modellers and developers maximise their return from packages, such as MATLAB, Tempest, MG-ALFA, and Autodesk 3ds Max.
SmartCluster M Series platforms, which are build on Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit technology, come with Windows Server (Windows Server 2008 HPC Edition) and Microsoft’s HPC Pack.
Boston Limited managing director Manoj Nayee said Microsoft’s technical computing initiative simplifies powerful supercomputing technologies and has enabled Boston and their partners to spend less time on the numerous complexities in deploying HPC platforms.
