Expects revenue growth of 14% to19% for FY 2011
Dell has reported total revenue of $15.53bn for the second quarter of fiscal 2011, an increase of 22% compared to $12.76bn of the year-ago quarter.
Revenue from products and services was $12.65bn and $2.89bn respectively, an increase of 19% and 35% as compared to $10.6bn and $2.14bn in Q2 FY10.
For the quarter ended July 30, 2010, the company reported an operating income of $745m, an increase of 11% compared to $671m in the same quarter of the previous year.
Dell posted a net income of $545m, an increase of 16% as compared to $472m of Q2 FY10. EPS grew 17% to $0.28 from $0.24.
For the second quarter fiscal 2011, the company’s revenues from large enterprises, public sector, small and medium business and consumer sector totaled $4.5bn, $4.6bn, $3.5bn and $2.9bn, increasing 38%, 21%, 25% and 0.3%, respectively.
Servers, storage and services revenue grew a combined 43% reaching $4.3bn.
Dell chairman and chief executive officer Michael Dell said that they continue to strengthen their portfolio of data centre offerings at an aggressive pace with the addition of key IP, talent and technology.
"This quarter’s results are a strong reflection of the progress we’ve made, and we remain very focused on delivering the best possible solutions and services to meet our customers’ IT needs, " Dell said.
The company expects revenue growth of 14% to 19% in the fiscal year 2011.
