News: The cache software will be compatible with PCIe, NVMe, SAS or SATA interfaces from all vendors.
Sandisk has introduced a next generation server-side, solid state caching software, dubbed FlashSoft, for Microsoft Windows Server and Microsoft Hyper-V.
The software is designed to improve the performance of applications by up to five times in transactional and virtualised environments with high I/O latency, which is the time taken to complete a single I/O operation.
According to Sandisk, FlashSoft will enable users to boost database and application performance, achieve SSD performance benefits with existing storage and server investments, and use any standard SSD (PCIe, SAS, SATA) from any vendor in a cost-effective manner.
The FlashSoft software is designed to ensure that the most frequently accessed data is serviced by server-side flash rather than slower back-end storage.
The process reduces storage performance related issues and response time, without the need for a huge investment in hardware.
Sandisk highlighted that by availing FlashSoft update, enterprises will be able to accelerate the performance of applications by a 4.38 times which will subsequently increase transactions per second.
The company has also added new file-level policy-based technology to improve caching efficiency by allowing administrators to remove specific files from the cache.
According to Sandisk, when caching with FlashSoft, an SQL Server workload’s performance is also improved by 2.8 times in a Windows Server Hyper-V environment.
The next generation software is designed to reduce traffic on storage networks and storage systems, and it is also capable of reducing the software licence costs by enabling more workloads on accelerated hosts.
