Help enterprises manage data for their physical or virtual environments, while maintaining speed
Software security company Symantec has released the Backup Exec 3600 and NetBackup 5220 enterprise backup appliances equipped with Symantec V-Ray technology to help enterprises modernise their backup infrastructures and accelerate virtualisation adoption.
Symantec said the new backup appliances help organisations protect information completely, in physical or virtual environments, and deduplicate data everywhere to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
With integrated client and target data deduplication, Backup Exec 3600 appliance provides visibility into virtual environments to allow medium sized companies to speed recovery times and reduce storage costs.
Backup Exec 3600 is designed to reduce IT complexity by providing virtual server visibility, protecting key operating systems and platforms, and providing Symantec Critical System Protection against total virus and malware.
Symantec NetBackup 5220 is based on NetBackup 7.1 and is designed for enterprise organisations with both client and target deduplication in order to accelerate backups for physical and virtual systems.
The appliance features Symantec’s content-aware deduplication, eliminates backup window problems and enables cost effective replication of data to other sites for business continuity, the company said.
Symantec said that the NetBackup 5220 appliance enables organisations to increase backup reliability; reduce operating expenses; refresh data center backup; improve virtual machine protection, simplify remote office protection and transform disaster recovery readiness.
Symantec director of product marketing for Information Management Group Sean Regan said the Backup Exec 3600 and NetBackup 5220 appliances provide organisations with the flexibility to manage data in a way that makes the most sense for their physical or virtual environments, while getting them up and running as fast as possible.
