China Mobile is reportedly the largest mobile carrier in the world with 740 million subscribers.
Apple CEO Tim Cook on Tuesday met China Mobile’s chairman Xi Guohua at the headquarters of the phone carrier.
This is said to be the second meeting between the two industry captains this year.
The iPhone maker is trying to join hands with China Mobile in a bid to tap its market, as it is reportedly the largest mobile carrier in the world with 740 million subscribers.
Besides, China is Apple’s second largest market in the world, where the iPhone maker announced a decline in growth in the most recent quarter.
Apple said its sales from April to June in Greater China, including Taiwan and Hong Kong, fell by 43%, compared to the previous quarter.
China Mobile’s third-generation network, however, is not compatible with the iPhone.
Cook and Gouhua had earlier met in January this year.
Apple’s spokeswoman in China Kitty Porter was quoted by Bloomberg saying that she was not aware of Cook’s agenda.
