BlackBerry has chosen David Kleidermacher as its new Chief Security Officer.
Replacing Scott Totzke, who left in 2014 to join Huawei, the former CTO at Green Hills Software will assume responsibility for BlackBerry’s global Product Security organisation.
Kleidermacher’s appointment aims to ensure BlackBerry’s position as specialists in security in the thriving enterprise mobility market, where the Ontario-based company has refocused its efforts as its share in the mobile world has diminished.
"The value of BlackBerry today is in solutions they could potentially deliver to enterprises," comments Roberta Cozza, Research Director at Gartner.
"David is an outstanding addition to our best-in-class security team, and he will help extend BlackBerry’s gold standard of security as we work with customers to meet new cybersecurity challenges," commented John Chen, Executive Chairman and CEO of BlackBerry.
He added: "In particular, David’s knowledge of securing the Internet of Things and embedded systems will be invaluable as we execute on our strategy and continue to expand our management of the world’s mobile endpoints."
