New uniFLOW software offers pop-up print advice
Imaging technology vendor Canon has announced the release of its new print management system, UniFLOW Output Manager 4.0.
The company says the new offering will help companies save money through more effective control of their print costs. When a user sends a document to print, they will receive an automatic pop-up tool that calculates the cost of each print job and identifies an alternative device which will process the job at a lower cost.
Tracey Fielden, head of office marketing, Canon UK, said: “In the current economic climate, UK organisations are feeling the strain. Streamlining and cost control are now major corporate concerns. An effective print strategy can save organisations as much as 30% of their overall print costs.”
Using a Canon multifunctional device, users can preview print jobs, amend the number of copies required and change the finishing and ink options. Canon says this will save workers time as they do not need to return to their desk to make changes to the print job.
“UniFLOW OM 4.0 not only enables IT Managers to see who’s printing what, through what device and at what time, it also allows employees to control their own costs, each and every time they print. Empowering end-users to control and manage their own printing is one of the most effective ways for organisations to tackle print costs,” said Fielden.
The software offers integration with document distribution service eCopy and print jobs held on the server can be viewed, released or deleted through an additional eCopy connector called eCopy Secure Print Client.
Users can also print to a device from a single universal printer driver. Canon believes this will improve the user experience and reduce administration costs.
