Features monitoring and diagnostic capabilities
Hughes Network Systems, a provider of broadband satellite networks and services, has introduced HX ExpertNMS network management system, which includes a graphical user interface and a set of monitoring and diagnostic features, for management and optimisation of network performance.
The HX System from Hughes is designed and optimised for smaller and mobile networks, including maritime and airborne applications. Capable of simultaneous mesh, star and multi-star configurations, the HX System builds upon the capabilities of HN System, incorporating features such as integrated TCP acceleration and IP networking, Hughes said.
The company said that an installation wizard NetGuide provides technicians with a guided process to configure an HX System and allows them to create bandwidth plans for remote satellite routers. In addition, the network dashboard view provides a way to determine the health of the network and allows technicians to evaluate and control virtually all aspects of the HX System.
According to Hughes, the new system provides terminal diagnostic messages to identify the problems and once a problem is identified, the client provides context-sensitive help to facilitate resolution of a problem. Performance of the terminal also can be monitored including inbound/outbound throughput (including by traffic type). The HX ExpertNMS also provides a colour-coded status display of remote routers using a graphical map.
Dave Jupin, vice president of product line management at Hughes, said: Our clients and the market require a network management system which not only provides advanced features for performance monitoring and traffic resolution, but is also easy to use.
“Beyond meeting these requirements, the unique advantage of HX ExpertNMS is that it includes the ability to proactively identify ways to improve network performance or troubleshoot issues.
