Multimedia services at the hospital beds of Generale de Sante.
Motorola has implemented its T2 powerbroadband system to enable three hospitals managed by a French private healthcare provider, Generale de Sante to deliver voice, data and video services.
According to Motorola, its service provides an advanced IP broadband infrastructure to support multimedia services delivered over the existing telephone line, eliminating the need for additional cabling or electrical work in highly sanitized patient rooms.
Motorola worked with Netlogon, a French integrator of network and mobility services, to enable the deployment of multimedia terminals at each hospital bed in the three locations that allows patients to exchange emails, browse the internet, make telephone calls, watch live TV and movies, as well as communicate with medical personnel. In addition, in 2009, the terminals are expected to provide medical staff with access to hospital information including; patient records, lab results and X-ray images.
Alexandre Ple, IT manager for Generale de Sante clinics, said: Offering the multimedia capabilities at the bedside allows us to provide the ‘hotel like’ service that patients increasingly demand. The services also act as a differentiator for us in a competitive healthcare industry.
