US-based peer-to-peer application developer Raketu Communications has launched its voice over IP application for Blackberry users.
The company said that the new application will allow users to make international calls at voice over IP (VoIP) rates as well as send text messages and emails.
According to Raketu, the application will be available for BlackBerry Curve, BlackBerry 8800 Series and BlackBerry Pearl through a web-based platform. The users will have to sign up to access the service at Blackberry.raketu.com and will not need to download any software, said the company.
The company also claimed that some users will be able to make international calls for free.
Raketu said that it will charge $9.95, $24.95 or $49.95 to access the service and will provide up to 600 free calling minutes per month.
Last month, the company introduced a web application for making international calls using Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch at VoIP rates or free of charge.
