The network has full city coverage using Airspan’s HiperMAX base station equipment
Wes-Tex Telecommunications, a division of Wes-Tex Telephone Cooperative, working with systems integrator Stutler Technologies, has selected Airspan Networks’s advanced WiMAX services for a city-wide deployment in Big Spring, Texas.
Wes-Tex, a rural local exchange carrier, has previously served customers through traditional leased wired lines. Using Airspan’s HiperMAX base station equipment in the 3.65GHz band, the network has full city coverage with multiple base stations communicating with hundreds of outdoor units placed at the customer premises.
Airspan Networks has said that this mobile WiMAX compliant platform was selected to allow for future mobile applications if desired. Airspan’s advanced WiMAX technology is claimed to offer next-generation frequency efficiency software, quality of service and network management.
J Wilson, general manager of Wes-Tex, said: Airspan and Stutler were able to devise a solution that allows us not only to continue serving our current customers with voice, but also to expand our customer base with added services such as high-speed internet. We were also able to plan, develop and deploy the network very quickly and at a low cost.
