COMPANY PRESS RELEASE: 3Com Corporation has announced that Computer 2000, the UK arm of Tech Data, has been appointed as the exclusive UK distributor for 3Com’s range of networking products for the healthcare industry.
The product range is designed to offer NHS organisations innovative networking features that are easy-to-use and affordable, at a time when managers are required to do more with fewer resources. The product range includes wireless, security, web-caching, switching and health community call centre technologies.
The potential of this market sector is tremendous. By working closely with 3Com and providing superior distribution and support services to systems integrators and VARs specialised in the needs of the healthcare sector, we plan to make the most of the opportunity, said Andy Shepperd, general manager of the Networking Division at Computer 2000.
3Com has a strong history in healthcare IT and is firmly committed to promoting its offering to all areas within the Department of Health and the NHS. 3Com is looking to provide a mechanism that will enable NHS Trusts to engage with 3Com healthcare channel partners. 3Com already works with a number of Authorised Healthcare Partners and, working with Computer 2000, will be looking to recruit more specialist solutions providers that focus on this sector.
We are looking for partners that have a strong pedigree in providing expertise to the healthcare market, said Graham Small, healthcare account manager at 3Com. The NHS Trusts need to feel that they can speak to someone who understands their needs and can help them deliver on challenging government targets. Working with 3Com, Computer 2000 and our reseller partners, NHS organisations will be able to meet targets, with feature-rich yet cost-effective, simple-to-use networking solutions.
Improving the capture, management and use of information through a national IT infrastructure is a core part of the UK government’s plans for the NHS. In the last two years, it has made an additional £214 million available to support the modernisation of NHS information systems. This includes £79 million announced in 1999 as a recurring sum and a further £53 million to be made available each year to Health Authorities.
Resellers that participate in the 3Com healthcare programme can expect to benefit from dedicated resources including direct support from 3Com technical experts, additional marketing funds, qualified healthcare leads, a unique pricing structure and regular special promotions. All of these benefits will ensure that resellers are more attractive to customers and will therefore result in business growth.
Computer 2000 will be working closely with 3Com to maximise the benefits for resellers and is already planning a series of additional initiatives that will identify resellers with expertise in the healthcare sector and provide them with specialist support and resources. These will include a guide to the market, a series of seminars and workshops and specific market campaigns.
