The company will deliver iPhone 4S via China Telecom
Chinese telecom operator China Telecom is all set to take iPhone 4S preorders from March 2 as sales commence from March 9.
Apple CEO Tim Cook was reported by CNN as saying at last week’s Goldman Sachs technology conference that they’ve been very focused on China.
China Telecom reported 38.7m 3G subscribers, of which nearly 15m are high-end users who could afford and are eager to buy an iPhone, according to a recent Morgan Stanley report.
Last quarter, 7.4m Apple iPhones were sold by AT&T, while Verizon and Sprint sold 4.2m and 1.8m, respectively.
China Telecom is the second major carrier in China which is selling Apple devices, following China Unicom’s deal with the iPhone maker.
Apple has yet to ink an agreement with China’s largest carrier, China Mobile, as the latter does not have compatible technology yet.
