RIM’s PlayBook enjoys sharpest rise in interest compared to last year
Nearly 92% of mobile software developers have focussed on Apple iPhone alone, according to a survey by research firm IDC and app platform Appcelerator.
Google’s Android is the other entry which garnered most attention from the developers, the report added.
The survey found that most of the 2,200 developers surveyed expected to produce more complex apps for more platforms.
Reuters quoted Appcelerator’s Scott Schwarzhoff saying cloud connectivity, location and social would define the experiences of most applications this year.
Android tablets such as Samsung’s Galaxy Tab and Motorola’s Xoom garnered interest from 74% of developers.
RIM’s PlayBook managed to get the sharpest rise in interest. "Quite frankly, three months ago we thought this thing (PlayBook) was never going to take off," Schwarzhoff said.
Nearly 28% of respondents said they were interested in PlayBook, compared to 16% in September.
