The new line of tablets will be upgradable to Android 4.1 or Jelly Bean in Q4 2012
Consumer electronics firm ARCHOS is planning to launch its Gen10 XS tablet line, including a 10-inch Android tablet that will feature a removable keyboard starting mid-September.
ARCHOS 101 XS, a 10.1-inch tablet, will be the first member of the Gen10 XS tablet line to hit the stores, followed by the release of the ARCHOS 97 XS and ARCHOS 80 XS.
The 101 XS tablet claims to be 15% thinner than the new iPad3, weighs 21 ounces, measures 8mm thick, comes in a 10.1-inch screen with 1280 x 800 resolution, includes 16GB Flash Memory and will be in stores and online starting mid- September.
Powered by Android 4.0, ARCHOS Gen10 XS line comes with a Coverboard, a magnetic keyboard that will offer protection, a kickstand, docking and easy typing. It will also offer access to Google Play that features over 600,000 apps.
The magnetic Coverboard included with all Gen10 tablets enables users to protect, stand and dock the tablet as well as type with a full-size QWERTY keyboard. It also has a DC in, so when it’s plugged into a power outlet the keyboard functions like a dock and helping charging the tablet.
ARCHOS’ new tablets comes equipped with a chicklet-style QWERTY keyboard that has integrated Android shortcut keys offering direct access to main tablet functions and a complete version of OfficeSuite Pro 6, which allows user to view, create, edit, print and share Word, Excel and PowerPoint files as well as open attachments and read PDF files.
In addition, Gen10 XS tablets come with Media Center apps for HD video, complete codec and format support, jackets & meta-data for the music, videos and wireless sharing over user home network.
The tablet line features Video Carousel to access video library including automatic jacket download and a search tool for finding title, series, actor, subtitle or other information.
Other media centre functions include: Wireless streaming, home file sharing and read media from external storage ARCHOS remote control app.
ARCHOS’ new line of tablets will be upgradable to Android’s next OS, Android 4.1 or Jelly Bean in Q4 2012. They also feature a 1.5 GHz smart multi-core processor and 1GB of RAM Google’s suite of mobile applications.
