Advanced Recognition Technologies (ART) claims to have developed the first speaker independent name dialing solution to be used in mobile handsets. The speech recognition firm has created smARTspeck XG, which uses dynamic recognition based on phoneme identification.
Once a name and number is stored in the handset, the user only needs to tell the device to call the person. The simplicity of the solution for the end-users means that no training is required to dial a number using a verbal command.
The recognition software is able to respond accurately whichever way the user structures the command. It should also recognize a command given by any user, because the software is fully speaker-independent.
