Long term preservation and easy access of information
Atos Origin, a provider of IT services, has said that it will work with Oracle in the area of digital content management.
The collaboration is to increase the value of information through offerings that will enable the long term preservation and easy access of information that can be considered part of the world’s knowledge-base; from history to culture and technological development.
Atos Origin said that the Digital Content Marketplace is an interactive knowledge space that combines capture, access, preserves and use social business offering to enhance information for the long-term.
The new offering can capture and preserve information in all formats including printed documents, digital information, photos, video, twitter and facebook feeds.
In addition, the offering archives the information in such a way that a search request returns all relevant information from thousands of different sources to provide the user with everything they need on the subject in an easy to view format.
Further, the offering enables the user to edit and elaborate on the content and then share with their own community.
The new offering is designed using Oracle technology and is initially focused on digital libraries following the joint delivery of information-management-system for the National Library of France to address long-term availability of more than one billion documents.
Oracle EMEA alliances and channels senior vice president Stein Surlein said this innovative tool from Atos utilises storage, archiving and server products from Oracle, including Oracle Exadata, which brings additional performance benefits for end customers.
