Consumer electronics retailer Best Buy has announced that it has selected SAP to provide the core enterprise resource management platform, as well as SAP for Retail solutions for specific retail functionality, for its international and emerging businesses.
Best Buy said that as it continues to expand its customer-centric business model domestically and internationally, the common information platform for financial reporting, human resources, retail, and operations management will provide the tools for tracking and managing future growth.
The SAP platform will provide multi-language/multi-currency and integrated information capabilities for portions of the international business unit’s retail, merchandising, supply chain, wholesale distribution, finance, human resources and store operations. The first phase of implementation will include current expansion of Best Buy into China, Mexico, and Turkey.
Bill McDermott, president and CEO of SAP Americas and Asia Pacific Japan, said: SAP understands the need for global IT solutions that are best practices for retailers like Best Buy. With SAP for Retail, Best Buy will maintain its competitive advantage and be well positioned for expansion around the globe.
