Carestream Health has signed an agreement to integrate and sell Lotus Sametime, a key component of the IBM Unified Communications and Collaboration platform. The combination of Lotus Sametime software and Carestream Health’s radiology solutions is said to facilitate rapid communication, including instant messaging and voice over internet protocol interactions between radiologists and other medical professionals involved in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
With Carestream Health’s systems and IBM software, medical professionals will be able to find experts quickly based on location and topic, and collaborate instantly through instant messaging or voice over internet protocol (VoIP) conversation.
Additionally, users can share computer screens in real-time, highlighting key parts of an image to collaborate on a diagnosis.
Representatives from Carestream Health will begin selling, installing and supporting this new tool available on new and previously purchased systems from Carestream Health in the second quarter of 2008.
Michael Jackman, president of healthcare information solutions at Carestream Health, said: This agreement with IBM is another example of the speed with which we are making valuable solutions available to healthcare providers around the world.
