Bombardier, a provider of transportation solutions, has received an order from CBRail, a European rolling stock company that provides operating lease finance to regional passenger, locomotive and wagon rail operators, for 15 Bombardier (i) Traxx (i) freight locomotives.
Ten of these locomotives will be equipped with ETCS level 2. CBRail is a rolling stock leasing company that is focused on providing customers with flexible, competitive yet practical rolling stock operating leases for locomotives and passenger trains in the European rail market. The current order, including a combination of Traxx AC and MS locomotives, is worth approximately $85 million.
The new electric locomotives will run in cross-border traffic on different European routes. Five locomotives are foreseen for the corridor Germany-Austria-Hungary, five locomotives for the corridor Germany-Austria-Switzerland and Italy, and the final five will travel between Austria, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.
Herman Linden, general manager of CBRail, said: We are pleased to reconfirm our confidence in Bombardier Transportation and in the Traxx locomotive platform. This additional order will allow us to cope even better with the increasing demand from the Market and will cement further our relationship with Bombardier.
