KT ICOM CEO, Dr Young-Chu Cho, and J-Phone CEO, John Thompson, claim to have successfully made the world’s first 3G International videophone roaming call. The two CEO’s stated that the quality of sound and video between them was very good.
The Korean firm has one of the three 3G licenses that were up for grabs in the Asian country. The company, whose parent is Korea Telecom, believes that this is only the start of what its IMT-2000 network could offer and plans one day to offer an ultimate roaming videophone service that extends to voice, video and data transmission.
Ericsson had provided the necessary equipment for the videophone call at the J-Phone end and KT ICOM used LG Telecom.
