Distributed antenna system (DAS) offerings for flexible wireless coverage
Corning, a provider of glass substrates for LCD televisions, computer monitors and laptops has signed an agreement to acquire MobileAccess, a provider of wireless network offerings.
Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
MobileAccess provides distributed antenna system (DAS) offerings for flexible wireless coverage in the growing wireless market.
Through this acquisition, Corning will integrate MobileAccess into its Cable Systems, a part of company’s telecommunications business segment.
Corning said that the acquisition will enable it to accelerate in key area of telecommunications growth strategy: the DAS wireless segment.
In addition, Corning will also expand its line of telecommunications offerings beyond its Fiber to the Home (FTTH) and Enterprise Optical offerings.
MobileAccess provides a portfolio of DAS offerings and established wireless technical expertise in radio frequency design, engineering, and software development.
These capabilities complement Corning’s DAS development efforts and will enable the company to extend its leadership as a connectivity offerings company.
Corning cable systems president and CEO Clark Kinlin said MobileAccess has a proven history of delivering customer-driven innovative offerings with superior customer service.
