Greek mobile operator Cosmote [COSq.L], the mobile arm of the Greek Telecommunications Organization, has adopted NTT DoCoMo Inc’s [DCM] i-mode mobile data services platform.
Cosmote plans to launch its i-mode service across Greece, Albania, Macedonia and Bulgaria in time for next year’s Olympic Games in Athens. It will be available over both GPRS and 3G networks.
Cosmote joins several other European mobile operators in committing to i-mode, among them KPN [KPN] in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, Bouygues [BOUY.PA] in France, and Telefonica Moviles [TEM] in Spain.
