US-based technology company Dell has launched the 968 all-in-one wireless printer series for the home office/small business segment, which includes a wireless model in addition to the base model.
The all-in-one (AIO) series has features such as printing, copying, scanning and faxing. The 968w model includes a Dell Internal Wireless Adapter for the wireless technology 802.11b/g Wi-Fi and an optional Bluetooth adapter. Prior to the launch of the 968 series, Dell was offering the Dell 966 AIO and Dell 948 AIO wireless printers to cater to this market segment.
The new series has a rated print speed of up to 32 pages per minute (ppm) in monochrome and up to 27 ppm in color. It can copy at up to 29 ppm in black and white and 22 ppm in color. It has an optical resolution of 1,200-by-2,400 dots per inch (dpi), 2.4-inch LCD screen and memory-card slots. The 968 series uses pigment ink for smudge, water and highlighter resistance.
Dell claims that printing can be done from the PC, network, PictBridge-enabled cameras and universal serial bus (USB) keys. It is also compliant with the Energy Star and Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive. The Dell 968 AIO printers will cost $259 for the wireless model and $179 for the base model.
Dell’s competitor HP also offers a wireless printer for home and home office called Photosmart C7280 AIO A4 USB/Wi-Fi printer at a price of $299.99.
