Dell Computer Corp has denied it plans to acquire printer manufacturer Lexmark International. Speculation regarding a possible acquisition has been mounting since May when Dell’s CEO, Michael Dell, said he was interested in getting into the printer business to get a share of the lucrative ink cartridge market.
Dell currently sells printers and cartridges from Lexmark as well as Hewlett-Packard Co and Seiko Epson Corp. However any move for Lexmark would now appear unlikely, particulalry as Lexmark could cost upward of $6.8 billion.
Meanwhile, Dell has repeated its sales forecast for the second quarter. The company expects to increase revenue by 8% to $8.2 billion.
