Electronic Document Capture vendor Dicom Group Plc has acquired a Spanish competitor Perdata SA for 700,000 euros ($860,000) in cash.
Perdata was founded in 1989, and provides EDC products and services to the Spanish market, where it has a significant market share. Its customers include Telefonica Moviles, Ericsson, Philipp Morris, Sony, Spain Tir, and Jaztel Telecom.
For the year ending December 31, 2002, Perdata reported an operating profit before exceptional items of 200,000 euros ($245,760), on revenue of 1.6m euros ($1.9m). At that time, net assets stood at 13,000 euros ($15,974).
Basingstoke, UK-based Dicom claims to be world leader in the EDC market, a fast-growing segment of the office automation industry. It employs 800 people worldwide working out of 25 subsidiaries. During 2002 and 2003, Europe accounted for approximately 78% of its business, North America 17%, Australasia 4%, and the rest of the world 1%.
