Japanese mobile operator NTT DoCoMo is to offer two new camera enabled handsets next week. The models, which are made by Mitsubishi Electric and Fujitsu, will be DoCoMo’s second and third camera phone models. Its original camera phone is made by Sharp.
DoCoMo is launching the phones to battle its rivals KDDI and J-Phone. In May DoCoMo fell behind its rivals in terms of monthly user growth, due partly to the success of their camera phones.
The new handsets will be for sale in Japan’s shops on Monday. However, the OEM agreement means that other companies will also be allowed to sell the products under a different brand name.
