EMC is launching a VoIP management platform to enable companies to monitor and diagnose the health of their IP telephony systems.
The company’s so-called Smarts VoIP Performance Manager and Smarts VoIP Performance Reporter software analyzes data from multiple sources to determine the cause of IP telephony and IT infrastructure problems.
The software monitors, alerts, diagnoses and reports in real-time all aspects of an IT system that may affect IP telephony services, EMC said. That includes information about phone extensions, phone calls, voice quality, availability of phone service and interconnections to telecoms providers. It also monitors call volumes, call quality and route patterns to help ensure a minimum service level and to give companies historical performance and trend reporting.
The software also can simplify management of geographically dispersed and hybrid environments, said Chris Gahagan, EMC’s SVP of resource management software, in a statement.
It can support hundreds of IP PBX and hundreds of thousands of phones, according to the company.
The platform currently supports Avaya Communications Manager, Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Cisco Unified CallManager and Cisco CallManager. It also can be integrated with other third-party management systems, EMC said.
