Ericsson has decided to outsource its Irish internal IT businesses and helpdesk to EDS. Although unconfirmed, it is likely that there will be job cuts taking place in the Swedish telecoms equipment firm’s Irish division, which presently has approximately 1,900 employees.
The move will also see 24 significant members of staff be relocated within EDS. EDS will gradually manage more and more of Ericsson’s IT units in 16 of its European countries.
Ericsson and EDS believe that outsourcing this work will save on operating costs, while also upholding a good level of service.
