Ericsson has won a contract with Mobtel to expand the Serbian operator’s GSM 900/1800 network. The deal is worth more than $105 million for Ericsson, which will be the only supplier of GSM infrastucture and services duringh this period of expansion for Mobtel.
Ericsson will enlarge Mobtel’s principal network over a period of 12 months. Once the upgrade is complete the Serbian firm will be able of offer a variety of services to its customers such as multi media messaging.
The Swedish firm will also be providing basic GPRS technology to allow for Internet access. Mobtel has said the network expansion should allow for an extra two million users.
